What To Expect At Pinewoods Chapel

We’re so glad you’re thinking of visiting with us! We’re looking forward to getting to know you better.

We know what it’s like visiting a new church — you may have questions about where to park, what’s available for your kids, and what you should wear. Our helpful Greeters and our Children’s Ministry Registration Table Attendants are always available to answer your questions and point you in the right direction. Or, find the answer to your question right here!

When does the service start?

Our service starts each Sunday morning at 10am. Come early to find a parking spot, sign your children in at the Registration Table, and to grab a cup of coffee or tea.

How do I get to Pinewoods?

Pinewoods Chapel meets at Angus Morrison Elementary School. Find the directions here.

What should I wear?

We’re excited that you’re visiting us, and we just want you to wear whatever you’re comfortable in. Some people like to dress in their “Sunday Best” and some prefer jeans and flip flops. Rest assured that no matter what you’re wearing, you’ll fit in!

What will my kids be doing during the service?

Children are welcome to participate in the Worship service until about 10:30. At that point, the Worship Leader will announce that it is time for the teachers and children (age 3 to grade 6) to make their way to their classrooms. If your child is unsure about going, feel free to walk your child to class and stay for a few minutes. Our Sunday School teachers are fully screened and trained, and always have lots of fun activities, crafts and games prepared to illustrate the Bible lesson they’re teaching that day.

Why does my child need a Claim Card?

When you sign your child in at the Registration Table, you will receive a Claim Card with a number on it. You’ll write that number on the Sign In sheet beside your child’s name.  When you pick up your child following the service, hand the Claim Card back to your child’s teacher.  This is to ensure that only YOU can sign out your child.

What is a Pinewoods Chapel service like?

Our service begins with lively music led by our Worship Team, along with an announcement time and Bible reading. This is followed by the Breaking of Bread (Communion) service.

The Leader that day usually speaks for a few minutes, and then the bread and juice is passed around. This is a meaningful time for all of those who have professed Christ as their Savior and are striving to live their lives in a God-honouring way. You are welcome to participate with us or pass the plates by.

After the Breaking of Bread, the Worship Team usually leads us in another song after dismissing the children to their classes. Then Pastor Chris speaks, followed by another song. The entire service lasts about an hour and 15 minutes.

After the service is done, you can sign your children out at their classrooms (check the signs overhead if you’re not sure which class to go to). Coffee, tea and treats are always still available and this a great time to get to know some new people! Take a look at the Leadership page for a peek at some of the people you’ll be meeting.

What if I don’t know the songs?

All of the songs led by our Worship Teams are projected onto the big screen at the front of the gym. Feel free to sing along or to just listen in.

Don’t you guys take up a collection?

At Pinewoods Chapel, we don’t pass an offering plate around like many other churches do. We do have an offering box at the back of the gym, near the Sound Booth. As a visitor, we don’t expect you to contribute money. If and when you decide to make Pinewoods your home church, we would be happy to discuss the details with you.
